McKinneys Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients

2 cups shortening ( it’s good to use ½ butter and ½ shortening or ALL  BUTTER)
2 cups white sugar
2 cups brown sugar
4 eggs
2 t. vanilla
3 cups flour
2 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
6 cups oatmeal
1 cup raisins
1 cup chopped nuts
Directions

Heat oven to 360 degrees.  Soak raisins in hot water 30-40 minutes.  Drain.  Mix with first 8 ingredients and mix.   Stir in remaining 3 ingredients.  Drop by mounded tablespoons onto a cookie sheet.  Bake 15 minutes.  Take out before they look done and let stand 5 minutes on cookie sheet.
